Update of Sean sleeping

I have no clue what day we are on, I lost track, but I've had a few people asking me how things are going so I figured I would update everyone
So not much has changed...  Sean is still not sleeping through the night, but things are a little better!  The bedtime routine has worked wonders and Sean now falls asleep on his own (in his crib) usually within 5 minutes.  Of course he has his nights where he really fights he's sleep.  Just having him go to sleep on his own is wonderful, I use to dread bedtime.  Having to have the whole house quiet as I nursed and rocked him to sleep for an hour (only to have him wake up as soon as I put him in his crib) Some nights he sleeps better than others but He still wakes 3 to 4 times usually.  Some nights I'm able to get him back in his crib, others I'm out on the couch with him.  As much as this is a pain, I really don't have the energy to fight with him and try to break this habit.  I look at how fast Shay grew up and I know Sean won't be like this forever and it may come a time he doesn't want to have this snuggle time, so I'm trying to look on the positive side and enjoy this time.   Of course I would love for him to sleep through the night in his own crib, but I know this won't last forever and this too, shall pass :)

I am still working on getting a daytime routine in place, it;s hard right now because of the holidays and all the running around we have been doing, but my main goal this new year is to get a daytime routine in pace and stink to it.

I promise to keep everyone updated if anything changes, I just stopped blogging because I didn't want to write the same thing over and over.  If you have any question feel free to ask, or leave any tips or advice below.

Night Seven & Eight (Sean's sleep routine)

I had a total brain fart last night and forgot to post a blog, sorry!

So night seven went awesome!  Sean fell asleep in 7 mins and slept for 7 hours.  I couldn't have asked for a better night.  Even though I would love for Sean to sleep longer, I will take whatever I can get!

Night eight didn't go as smooth as the last few days, but that's my fault. I had a dentist appointment at 6pm (I made the appointment weeks before starting the sleep training and couldn't reschedule) So because I didn't get home till 7:25pm we started 25 minutes late and he was over tried. We got Sean down at 7:55pm and He was asleep by 8:17pm.

I have to say this sleeping training method is working great for us, but I hope everyone knows that I am not saying this is the "right" way to do this. The method is not for everyone or every child.  My best advice is to research, research, research!

Please know I have never or will ever push my beliefs on people, so please be kind as well and not push you beliefs on me.  I started this blog just to share our journey and reach out to other moms for support and advice and hopeful help someone along the way.

Night 6 (Sean's sleep routine)

Last night was another bad night...
Sean slept from 7:53pm to 10:23pm.  I was determine to get him back to sleep and back in his crib.  That was a  FAIL.  Every time I would put him in his crib he would wake up and start screaming (not crying, screaming bloody murder) To make this short I fought with him for hours and ended up losing the fight at 2am and sleeping with him on the couch.

From what I read in the book, after two weeks of sleep training he should start to sleep through the night!  I am hoping and praying this is true!

On the plus side Sean is falling asleep at night with ease!  Tonight he barely cried.  We put him in bed at 7:31pm and he was asleep by 7:39pm. I couldn't believe it!
This momma is exhausted so I'm taking my butt to bed early tonight, even though I enjoy spending quality time with the hubster, tonight I'm going to spend quality time with my pillow!

Night Five (Sean's sleep routine)

The sleep training is going pretty good, every night Sean is going down a lot easier.  We are still waiting for him to sleep through the night or at least for a longer stretch.  Last night Sean slept from 7:24pm to 11:45pm.  I was unable to get him back in his crib so I slept with him on the couch once again.  I know it's a habit I need to break but it's so much easier to lay with him on the couch in the middle of the night was I'm so exhausted.

Sean was in such a great mood today and took his two naps.  Overall today was awesome, I LOVE the weekends!  Seems like he's always better when daddy's home.  We started his routine at 7pm and had him in bed by 7:40pm (ten minutes long then usually, but he nursed longer today) by 7:53pm he was asleep.  only 13 minutes of crying, That's a new record!!

I'm hoping since he doing so well with his sleep training that sleeping through the night will start soon!
I hope by write about of experience this is helping someone out there who is having similar issues. If you have any advice you would like to share with me or my readers please comment down below.
Thank you to everyone who has already done so :)
 ♥ Love ya guys ♥

Night Four (Sean's sleep routine)

Last night went a little better.  Sean fell asleep in record time (7:45pm) he woke up three hours later at 10:48pm.  I was able to nurse him back to sleep and I put him back in his crib at 11:08pm (asleep).  At 2:30am he woke back up and I wasn't able to get him back in his crib, so I slept with him on the couch =/

Thankfully the weekend is here, so James got up with Sean and Shay at 7:00am and let me go back to bed.  I got up 8:45am and it felt so good to get that little bit of extra sleep.  Have to say Sean's mood was great today, he was a happy boy.  He still didn't want to nap, but I was able to get him down for one good nap today.

Since Sean only took one nap today, by 6:00pm he was ready for bed, since it was too early to start his bed time routine I tried to push it as long as I could by playing with him in his room.  By 6:25pm I could put it off anymore so we started, boobie, bath, books, then bed.  We put him in his crib at 6:57pm and by 7:24pm he was asleep.  He put up a little more of a fight today, but I think it's because he was over tried.

Each day it is getting easier for me to put him in his crib and let him cry, I know it's slowly working.  I have faith that this is going to fix his sleep issues and he finally will learn to self sooth.  Still keep my fingers crossed that he sleeps through the night soon :)

Night Three (Sean's sleep routine)

Let me start off by saying how much last night SUCKED!!  If you read my blog post last night, Sean went to bed much quicker and i was thrilled. He was asleep by 8:13pm well at 9:40pm he woke back up.  I didn't know what to do since he had only slept for 1 1/2 hours....  I decided to pick him up and hold him and let him know everything was okay then i placed him back in his crib.  He was mad, he was screaming blood murder, by 10pm I decided to go get him and try to nurse him (but not to sleep) I put him back in bed by 10:10pm and again the screaming started.  By 11pm I couldn't do it anymore, so I picked him up and rocked him to sleep, it wasn't long and he was asleep.  I went to put him in his crib asleep at 11:10pm and he woke up instantly.  I decided to leave him there for a little bit to see if he could put himself to sleep... at 11:30pm I gave up and slept with him on the couch. He tossed and turned all night and we both had a horrible nights sleep.
This set the tone for the day...   Sean was cranky all day and refused to nap.  It felt like I fought him all day long to take a nap and finally he would fall asleep and in 20 minutes he was back up.  I was beyond frustrated!! I am an ex smoker (Smoked for 8 years and I have been smoke free for almost a year and half) I have done very well with not going back to smoking and I'm so proud of myself.  Today I almost broke down and bought a pack.... Thankfully I took a step back and realized that a cigarette isn't going to make Sean sleep, it's not going to solve the problem at hand, there for I don't need one.  Instead I took a few moment to gather myself and calm down, i knew at this point Sean was feeding off my negative energy and this wasn't good for either one of us.  I couldn't wait to hear from my husband that he was on the way home, today was such a rough day and knowing he was going to be home soon made me feel better.   Well James called 20 minutes later than he usually does and tells me he got a call (Figures he's on call the week I start sleep training) and he was headed back to work.  It's 8:15pm here and he still isn't home :(
I wasn't happy that I was going to have to do Sean's sleep routine by myself, but life has to go on.  I put a happy face on and started our routine at 7:00pm and end right at 7:30pm.  Again as soon as I put him in his crib he started to scream.  But this time it wasn't as hard as the last to nights.  I check on him after 5 minutes and to my surprise he wasn't standing up like he usually does.  By 7:45pm he stopped crying, I waited for 5 minutes before going in to make sure sure he was asleep and sure enough he was.  Only 15 minutes! That calls for a big WOOHOOO!! Now I guess we will have to see how he sleeps *Fingers crossed*

I want to thank everyone who has been kind enough to send me your experiences and support, you have no idea how much it means.  Reading your comments and messages today kept me going. I felt hopeless today but you guys changed that! It's nice to know I'm not alone with this issue. So thank you so much! Love you guys!!! XOXO!

Night Two (Sean's sleep routine)

To my surprise, Sean slept from 9pm to 4am last night, a whole 7 hours!!! I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to have 6 hours of straight sleep (even though I woke up to my boobs killing, since I went 7 hours without feeding Sean) I honestly didn't think he would sleep so well on the the first night!  This has gave me a HUGE amount of hope that this is going to work.
According to the book "Sleeping through the night" Night two is usually worse then night one.  So I wasn't looking forward to putting him down tonight.  We to decided to change his sleep routine to Boobie, Bath, Books, then Bed. I started this routine at 7pm and was finished at 7:30. Tonight went to pretty smooth until we put him in his crib.  The screaming began instantly.  It doesn't get easier letting him cry, my heart just breaks hearing him scream at the top of his lungs and not being able to pick him up.  Me and my husband (James) took turns checking on him like we did last night.  Each time we went in the room he was standing in his crib screaming, we would lay him back down and rub his tummy and tell him "it's okay sweetie, it's time for bed"  We wouldn't stay longer than 30 seconds.  We checked on him in different intervals: 3, 5, 8, 10 minutes.  After James checked on him at 9:10pm it wasn't even a full three minutes later Sean stopped crying and was asleep. The first night Sean screamed for an hour and half, so we were expecting the same amount of time or maybe longer. I couldn't believe it only took 43 minutes tonight, and I think from here on out it will take less and less time.  I look forward to seeing how long he sleeps tonight and can't wait to "hopefully" have another good nights sleep!

Sean's sleep issues

I planned on doing another video about the issues we are having with Sean sleeping, but honestly I couldn't get through the video without crying.  I am so mentally and psychically exhausted, I am at my breaking point.

So to give you a little back ground on Sean's sleeping, He has been an amazing sleeper since day one.  By two weeks old he was only getting up once at night, by 10 weeks he was sleeping through the night.  Of course we would have a few nights that he would get up a few times but it was rare.  Sean's sleeping schedule started getting messed up once he started teething which was at 4 months old, it start off slow he started not sleeping as long as he usually did (getting up at 4:30 instead of 6:00am) by 5 months old he was getting up at least twice and wouldn't go back in his crib, so I would sleep on the couch with him. At 6 months he cut his first tooth and within 5 days of cutting his first tooth, three more came in.  Right then I knew he sleep was messed up because of teething and now that he cut this teeth he was going to go back to sleeping through the night again... Wrong again!  This was only the beginning, as the weeks past it was only getting worse. in desperation I decided to try the cry it out method (CIO)  the controlled one (where you go in and check on them every 3, 5, 10 mins) After 30 mins of him screaming I gave up (one of my many mistakes) I wrote it off saying "it's just not for us."  I then decided that I needed a more constant bed time routine and was hopeful that this way the key to his sleeping issues... again I was wrong!  Now three months later we are still dealing with Sean not sleeping through the night and it's only gotten worse.  I get him to sleep at 7:30 or 8pm and by 10:30 - 11pm he is up again, I usually can't get him back to bed unless I lay with him on the couch.  So from this point we sleep on the couch together (if you are wondering why not put him in my bed, for some reason he does not like to sleep in my bed, I can only get him back to sleep on the couch) It is very uncomfortable sleeping with him, he tosses and turns all night and starts to cry because he wants more room to move so I lay him at one end of the couch and put my leg up by him so he won't roll off and i attempt to sleep on the other end.  He is good like that for maybe an hour but then he wants to nurse so I can to switch positions once again.  This goes on all night and neither one of us gets much rest.  My only break is on the weekends when my husband is home and will get up with him in the morning (6 or 7 am) and let me go back to bed. Since Sean still won't take a bottle, i only get 1 to 1 1/2 hours of extra sleep. Not only has this effected Sean's sleep, it has also effected his mood during the day. He is so much more fussier and grumpy. I miss my happy little boy who slept through the night!!

The underline problem is Sean does not know how to self sooth, he has always been nursed to sleep and because of that he's never learnt to put himself to sleep.  So today out of frustration and hopelessness I looked up every book on sleep methods and I came across "Sleeping through the night: How infants, toddlers, and their parents can get a good night's sleep" by Jodi A. Mindell, Ph.D. It had great reviews so I went online to see if any of my local libraries had it, and I was in luck.  I started reading this book as soon as I got home and I have read half of it.  I love how the book is written, it's very educational but not preach and has stories of other parents that have had sleep issues with their kids.   to do a very quick over view of the book, it basically states that you have to set up a bed time routine and put you child to bed sleepy but awake (which is the hard part) and doing a controlled CIO. This is what we decided out bed time routine will look like:
Start at 7:00pm
-Give him a bath
-Nurse him (but not to sleep)
-Go in his room and read a few books and have cuddle time
-Then bed
The four B's - Bath, Boobie, Books, and Bed

Tonight was the first night, at 7:38pm we put him in his crib and after screaming and crying he finally feel asleep at 9:06pm. We checked on him at least every 5 minutes until he fell asleep. It was so hard to hear him cry back there but I had to stick with it.  I'm pretty sure he will get up at some point tonight, according to the book I should do what we always do, which is nurse him back to bed.  After a week or so the night time wakings soon stop.  I will be doing another blog update as we going along and I will be sure to keep everyone updated on Sean progress. I also hope to do a video once I am a little more rested and not so emotional.  Please keep your fingers crossed this works :)

Making Mama's Milk & More Cookies Review/Giveaway

Making Mamas Milk & More is a company that makes lactation cookies to help breastfeeding mother boost their milk supply!  I was extremely happy when I was contacted to do this review, As you all know I am currently breastfeeding my son Sean and even though I don't have supply issues I want to start pumping and freezing my milk.  Theses cookies truly boosted my supply within 2 days, I was amazed!!

As soon as I received the cookies, I had to try them.  I was sent a bag of oatmeal chocolate chip and a bag of the vegan oatmeal chocolate chip.  I could not taste a difference between the vegan and non vegan, they were both delicious!  I started off eat three cookie for two days, then two cookies for two days, then one cookie a day.  By day two I had noticed my breast were filling up quick and at one point were so full I HAD to pump to.  I haven't felt that engorged (in the middle of the afternoon) since my milk came in.

The cookies are organic, 100% dairy free, and are delivered to your house fresh.  The ingredients in the lactation cookies are Fenugreek, Flax seed, Brewers yeast, Whole rolled oats, and whole wheat flour.
These cookies are amazing and really did help boost my milk supply.  I high recommend these to all breastfeeding mothers :)

Fall Cosmo VoxBox

I was thrilled when I was picked to receive a Fall Cosmo VoxBox
I was even more thrilled when I opened it and saw what I got
I have tried Proactiv a few years ago and liked it but my skin was never bad enough to keep using it.  Well a few days before i received my VoxBox my skin decided to break out, and I mean break out.  I don't think I have had this many pimples since middle school.  It was like a god send I received this, I didn't waste any time and used it right away!  With in 5 days I have noticed a big differences, I still have a few pimples but not as many.  The thing i like the best has to be the smell and how it drys out my skin, I have oily skin and I have noticed since i started using this my skin is less oily. The negatives are the price ($19.95 for a 30 day supply) and that it bleaches fabrics (in my case my pillow case) but the reason it does so is because of the benzoyl peroxide (which my face washes have)
I have to say this body wash smells amazing!! It a light flower scent with a hint of coconut!  It leaves your skin soft and refreshed!  I love that this body wash contains vitamins (A, B3, B5,C, and E) but again it's the price I don't like, I feel $9.99 is a lot for body wash.
I have never tried the Venus razor before, so I was super excited to see it in my VoxBox. I use the intuition razorand i love it, so excited to see if the Venus was better.  In my opinion I like my razor, but the Venus did it's job well. I like the shave gel bars and i think they do last longer than my razors soap bars so that's a plus. Another plus is I always receive coupons for the Venus in my Sunday paper so switching to this razor will save me money.  I'm still undecided if i will switch but I happy I was able to try this razor out!

Overall I like this products, they all work well, it just the prices I don't care for, but that's coming from a mom of two with a budget :)

I would like to thank Influenster for allowing to receive this VoxBox and I hope to be chosen again to review another one!

Undercover Mama Review/Giveaway

I just want to start off by saying how much I love this shirt!  This shirt is amazing, it turns any nursing bra into a nursing tank top.  If you are a nursing mother you know how expensive nursing bras, tank, and shirts are.  This is an affordable way to covert a nursing bra to a nursing tank to wear under you normal clothes. The best part (besides saving money) is it allows you to nurse your baby without showing you tummy.  I don't know about you but my tummy is not something I want to show off to the whole world, and this undercover allows me to nurse and not feel self conscience about people seeing my belly.
The undercover mama is so simple to use and works with any nursing bra.  In the picture above you can see the attachment options.  In a matter of seconds you can covert your nursing bra to a nursing tank top. The undercover mama retails for $24.99 and in my opinion worth every penny!

Boudreaux's Butt Paste products Review/Giveaway

I'm sure you have all heard of the diaper cream call 'Butt Paste' the name has always made me laugh.  For my baby shower I received a tube of the original butt paste and I fell in love with it.  I love the creams texture and the smell. I recently ran out of  so I was looking into getting some more when I found that they have a whole line of butt paste products.  Blairex Laboratories were kind enough to send me all of these products to review.

I will start with the diaper rash creams. Sean rarely gets diaper rash but this week he had a food allergy and his bottom broke out, I figured this was the prefect time to try out these products. Like I said before I have already used to the original and loved it so I was very interested in the All natural (green one)  this cream is made of natural ingredients (aloe vera, beeswax, carnauba wax - to name a few)  that helps treat and protect your baby from diaper rash.  The cream is not as thick as the original, it's white (appose to a cream color) and has no smell. I like that it's made up of natural ingredients but I like the originals thickness and smell is better.   Next I tried the Maximum strength butt paste (The red one), and this may be my new favorite.  It is as thick the original, smells the same, and does the trick.  Two days after I started used the maximum strength, Sean's rash was gone.
Next I tried the Rash protector spray.  This is for daily used to help prevent diaper rash, it's a stray that goes on clear and helps seal out wetness.  I personally did not like this spray, it didn't seem to help with his diaper rash, and I didn't like how fast the spray came out.  I wouldn't buy this product, I would just stick to the creams.
This was the first thing I tried out of all the products and I tried in on myself because my lips were chapped. Baby kisses is a infant and kids lip and creek moisturizer.  It comes out very thick so you don't need much and it goes on so smooth.  This product is going to be prefect for the dry winter months. I absolutely love it!
Now to my favorite product, Boudreaux's Butt Bath. This is a moisturizing body wash and shampoo that restores moisture to delicate skin.  It is tear free, PH-balanced, Non-irritating, and smells GREAT.  It has a light citrus smell that i love!  Sean has very dry skin (or does Shay) and this product does not dry him out.  I bathed Sean every night (for 5 days) and he's skin never dried out.  When using all bath washes I can only bath Sean every other day, so this product is great!! Out of all the products this one is a MUST have.

Overall I don't have anything bad to say about the products, I liked some more than others, but all in all they are amazing products. I highly recommend you check out the Boudreaux's  Butt Paste products

Boogie Wipes Review/Giveaway

Boogie wipes are extra soft hypoallergenic wipes that dissolve mucus caused by the common cold and allergies. These wipes are amazing!!!  They are super soft and just damp enough to remove those painful sticky boogers that you get around your nose.  My kids and I have horrible Fall allergies and these wipes are prefect for getting those stuck on boogies off. These wipes are alcohol free so no burning when used on dry chapped skin and are much gentler than a dry tissue.

The two scents of boogie wipes I was sent were fresh and grape.  My favorite is the fresh, it has such a clean smell and it reminds me of a perfume a friend of mine wears.  The grape smells just like grape, I'm not the biggest fan of grape, but my daughter Shay loved the smell.
I was also sent a few samples of their new product saline soothers. I had a cold last week and I figured it was the prefect time to try on of these wipes out, I used the cool menthol scent, and I love it.  Just like the boogie wipes, they are super soft and the burst of menthol felt good on my stuffy nose.

Overall I am very happy with all the products and these wipes will be a must have during allergy and cold season.

Now for the giveaway!!!!

Real Kids Shades Review/Giveaway

Real Kids Shades is a company that offers sunglasses designed just for kids.  The sunglasses they offer are not only adorable they are REAL sunglasses, 100% UV protection which means they protect your children's eyes from UVA and UVB rays.  I don't know about you but I really never thought about how dangerous the sun's ray were for my children's eyes.  I always remembered to put sun screen on my kids but forgot about protect my kids eyes.  Sunglasses are not only for summer, children and adults need to wear them year round to protect their eyes.

Real Kid Shades was kind enough to send me 3 pairs of their sunglasses to review.  The first pair are the one's for my son, they are the My first shades (0 to 24 months, in Animal jam blue) These glasses come with a strap that holds the sunglasses in place around his head.  They are very easy to put on and fit him very well. Sean is not a huge fan of the glasses yet, he like to pull them off any chance he gets, but when out walking around with them he gets distracted looking at everything going on and will leave them alone.  I was very excited to use these glasses in the car since it always seems the sun is in his face (despite having sunshades on the windows) I'm hoping he will get use to wear them and stop pulling them off after using them a little more.

The next two pairs of sunglasses were for my daughter Shay, The Flex in Aqua (shown in picture) and the Racer in purple. My daughter absolutely loves both pairs.  Our favorite would have to be the Flex, these glasses are bendable so you don't have to worry about your little one's breaking them.  Not only are these sunglasses flexible they are made with shatterproof, impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses, so no worries if your little one drops them.  Another great thing about all the sunglasses are they contain no lead, bisphenol-A or phthalates.  Overall, I am very happy with all the sunglasses, they are super cute and safe for children, doesn't get much better than that. I highly recommend you checking out Real Kid Shades and purchase some cute sunglasses for your kids!
